Vision & Philosophy

All teachers at Lipscomb are language instructors and all students are language learners. The campus promotes bilingual environments, dual language programs, and communication with families in English and Spanish.

Program Components

  • Two-way Dual Language (K–2 expanding to K–5): Mixed native Spanish and native English speakers; goal is bilingual, biliterate learners.
  • One-way Dual Language (Pre-K–5): Native Spanish speakers receive instruction in Spanish for language arts, science, and social studies; math in English. 70% L1 in PK–1; 50% L1 in grades 2–5.
  • General Education + World Language: Students receive Spanish instruction during specials rotation; instruction is differentiated for heritage, native, and non-native speakers.

Identification & Assessment

Students complete a Home Language Survey. Language proficiency testing (TELPAS) and LPAC determinations are used as appropriate. Campus assessments include DRA and I-Station; TX-KEA and CIRCLE are used in early grades.

Support for Mother Tongue & Second Language
