Pre-Kindergarten

A Strong Start at Lipscomb

Pre-K is often a child’s first experience in a school community. At Lipscomb, we want that experience to feel safe, joyful, welcoming, and full of possibility.

Our youngest Lions learn through purposeful play, conversation, movement, exploration, stories, music, art, and hands-on discovery. Teachers create classrooms where children are encouraged to ask questions, make friends, solve problems, communicate their ideas, and build confidence in themselves as learners.

Students develop the routines, language, independence, and early academic skills that prepare them for kindergarten while still having the space to wonder, create, and be children.

A Day of Discovery

Every day in Pre-K blends meaningful learning with the routines, relationships, movement, and play young children need to grow.

1

Welcome & Community

Children begin the day by building routines, connecting with classmates, and feeling ready to learn.

2

Play With Purpose

Learning centers invite children to create, imagine, problem-solve, and practice social skills.

3

Language & Literacy

Stories, songs, conversations, and early writing help children build a love for language and reading.

4

Math & Discovery

Children explore numbers, patterns, science, and the world around them through hands-on learning.

5

Movement & Creativity

Art, music, outdoor play, and movement help children express themselves and build healthy habits.

What Children Learn

Pre-K learning at Lipscomb supports the whole child.

Children develop early literacy and language skills through stories, songs, conversation, vocabulary, dramatic play, and writing. They build foundational math understanding through counting, sorting, patterns, shapes, measurement, and problem-solving. They also explore science, art, music, movement, and the world around them.

Just as importantly, children learn how to be part of a classroom community. They practice sharing, listening, taking turns, managing emotions, asking for help, making choices, and trying again when something feels hard.

These early experiences help children arrive in kindergarten with stronger confidence, independence, communication skills, and readiness to learn.

Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4

Lipscomb serves young learners through Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 programming.

Both programs are designed to meet children where they are developmentally while helping them build the skills, routines, and confidence needed for the next stage of learning. Pre-K 3 focuses on early independence, language growth, social development, and learning through play. Pre-K 4 builds on those foundations with increased attention to kindergarten readiness, literacy, math, communication, and classroom independence.

Dallas ISD determines current eligibility, program options, tuition information, and registration requirements. Families should use the district’s Early Learning resources for the most current details.
