Welcome
July 28, 2024
Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
Dear Lion Pride,
I am thrilled to welcome our faculty, staff members, families, and community to the 2024-2025 school year! I have been fortunate to be on campus since late May, and each day I have to pinch myself for the opportunity to serve as principal of such an incredible school and community. I have met parents whose pride for this school is immediately noticeable, campus faculty and staff driven by a passion for student success, and community members who support our campus because of the love they share for our mission and students.
As I assume the role of principal, it is not lost on me that regardless of who the next leader is, change is never easy. I hope I have instilled confidence in each of you that I will serve each day as principal committed to the success of all students, and will lean on your insights as we embark on this new and exciting chapter in Lipscomb’s storied history.
This year also brings exciting campus renovations, which will upgrade our facilities to the quality our students and families deserve. I strongly believe we show our students how important they are through our investment in their facility, and I cannot wait to see our campus transform to an even more beautiful space for all of us to experience.
As many of you are aware, public schools around the nation are facing challenges from inflation, to staffing cuts, to political decisions made on the state and federal level. While there may be factors outside of our direct control, I commit to each of you that the quality of instruction and learning will always be my priority. Our students deserve the best, and while our jobs will not become easier, we will become better at doing difficult things. Educators do this hard work because it is our calling, and I can say from the teachers I have met, their passion for our students is only growing deeper.
I consider it a privilege to lead Lipscomb Elementary alongside each of you, and am thrilled to embark on the journey ahead. As ONE PRIDE, composed of students, faculty, staff, families, and communities, we will continue to learn, grow, and provide a premier educational experience for our students. They deserve the best, and I am confident that we will continue to elevate and prepare our students to compete in whatever they choose to do.
I look forward to meeting all of you, and hope to see you this Saturday at our Back to School Block Party! Thank you for the support you all have provided me, and I look forward to growing closer with you as we continue to do the most important work in the world.
Sincerely,
Mr. Carter
Biography
Principal Carter has dedicated his life’s work to empowering students in public schools to excel and flourish in a future they shape for themselves.
Hailing from Houston, Texas, Mr. Carter was raised by a single mother who epitomized resilience and dedication. Despite facing adversity in his upbringing, Mr. Carter found solace and inspiration in the classroom, where his passion for learning fueled his belief in his own potential.
Recognizing the transformative impact of public education, Mr. Carter relocated to Dallas with a mission to provide similar opportunities for his students. As a teacher and Social Studies Department Chair at North Dallas High School, he imparted knowledge across a diverse range of subjects, from AP Human Geography to Current Events. Transitioning into the role of Academic Coordinator, Mr. Carter spearheaded campus-wide educational initiatives and provided tailored support to teachers in subjects such as US History and Algebra II, resulting in significant improvements in student performance on standardized exams.
Advancing to the position of Assistant Principal, Mr. Carter assumed responsibility for guiding students in 11th and 12th grades while overseeing various academic departments, including Math, Science, Fine Arts, Design Thinking, and Career and Technical Education. Notably, he played a pivotal role in introducing and implementing North Dallas’ inaugural Design Thinking Program, positioning the school as a trailblazer in innovative educational approaches.
Beyond his campus commitments, Mr. Carter has contributed extensively to educational development by crafting curriculum for the district’s social studies department. He remains actively engaged in local advocacy efforts, leveraging his role as a Fellow with Leadership ISD and Dallas C.O.R.E. to foster meaningful connections between students and community leaders.
Now assuming the role of Principal at Lipscomb Elementary, Mr. Carter continues to be driven by his personal mission, to “cultivate a learning community in which teachers find joy in, and are committed to improving their craft, so their students develop a love for learning and the self-discipline needed to compete in whatever they choose to do.”
