William Lipscomb Elementary

Meet The Principal

A Message from Principal Carter

Welcome to William Lipscomb Elementary.

It is an incredible privilege to serve as principal of a school with such a rich history, vibrant diversity, and deeply invested community. For more than a century, Lipscomb has been an important part of East Dallas, and today that legacy continues through exceptional educators, supportive families, engaged community partners, and remarkable students who inspire me every day.

I believe the purpose of education extends far beyond helping students earn good grades or perform well on assessments. My hope is that every child who walks through our doors develops a genuine love of learning, the confidence to believe in themselves, and the self-discipline to pursue whatever future they choose. Academic excellence is important, but so is curiosity, resilience, integrity, and the ability to think critically, solve problems, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them.

Everything we do at Lipscomb begins with our teachers. My goal is to cultivate a learning community where educators find joy in their work, continually refine their craft, and feel empowered to do what they do best: change lives. When teachers are supported, challenged, and inspired, students thrive. That belief guides every decision we make as a school.

My own story is one of public education changing the trajectory of a life. As an only child, many of the adults who shaped my confidence were my teachers, coaches, and mentors. School became my village—a place where others saw potential in me long before I recognized it in myself. Because of those experiences, I believe every child deserves adults who see their potential, hold them to high expectations, and remind them every day that they belong, they are capable, and they are worthy of every opportunity.

That philosophy is what drew me to William Lipscomb Elementary. This is a school unlike any other. Our students grow as internationally minded learners through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme while developing bilingualism through our Two-Way Dual Language program and exploring a third language through French instruction. Just as importantly, they do so in a school strengthened by extraordinary family involvement, meaningful community partnerships, and a neighborhood that believes deeply in its public school. From historic bond renovations to grants, volunteerism, and enrichment opportunities, our community continually demonstrates that our students deserve the very best.

One of the greatest joys of my work is welcoming students each morning. Their excitement, curiosity, and optimism are daily reminders of why this work matters. Whether they are eager to tell me about a book they are reading, a project they are proud of, or simply stop to share a joke, those moments reinforce the kind of school we strive to be: a place where children feel known, valued, challenged, and inspired.

As we look to the future, our vision is both ambitious and clear. We are committed to becoming one of the premier public elementary schools in Dallas—not simply because of academic results, but because of the culture we build together. We want Lipscomb to be a school where teachers are proud to work, families are proud to belong, and students leave prepared to compete with anyone, anywhere, while never forgetting the values of kindness, service, and lifelong learning.

Whether you are already part of the Lipscomb family or considering joining our community, thank you for taking the time to learn more about our school. I invite you to visit our campus, meet our students and staff, and experience firsthand what makes William Lipscomb Elementary such a special place. Together, let's continue doing what's best for kids.
