Exciting Renovations Coming Soon to Lipscomb Elementary

We’re thrilled to announce transformative updates coming to William Lipscomb Elementary through our latest Bond Project! These renovations are designed to enhance the functionality, safety, and beauty of our historic campus while supporting the needs of our students, staff, and community.

The project will include modern improvements such as a secure front entrance, updated classrooms, and enhanced spaces to inspire learning and creativity. From state-of-the-art lighting to refreshed corridors and teaching surfaces, these updates will create a more welcoming, innovative, and safe environment for everyone.

Key Highlights

  • A new connector addition linking the main building to the cafeteria and gym for improved accessibility.

  • Renovations to classrooms, including upgraded teaching surfaces, flooring, and LED lighting.

  • Enhanced security features such as card access readers and a secure front vestibule.

  • Site drainage improvements and updates to our parking lot for better functionality.

  • Restoration of our building’s historic charm, including terrazzo stair refurbishment and façade cleaning

Campus Renovation

William Lipscomb Elementary has been thoughtfully renewed to honor the history of our campus while creating safer, more accessible, and more inspiring spaces for the students we serve today.

For more than a century, William Lipscomb Elementary has been part of the story of East Dallas. Our campus renovation builds on that legacy by preserving the character and history of the school while updating the spaces students, staff, and families use every day.

The project was designed to make Lipscomb safer, more functional, more welcoming, and better equipped for modern learning. From classrooms and corridors to campus access, lighting, outdoor spaces, and student-centered learning environments, every improvement was made with the goal of creating a campus our community can be proud of for generations to come.

This is not simply a refreshed building. It is a renewed commitment to the students and families who call Lipscomb home.

A more secure front entrance and updated access features support safer movement into and throughout the campus.

Updated classrooms include improved teaching surfaces, lighting, flooring, storage, and learning environments built for today’s students.

Improved Accessibility

A connector addition between the main building, cafeteria, and gym improves access and movement across campus.

Renewed Shared Spaces

Corridors, gathering areas, and student spaces were refreshed to feel brighter, more welcoming, and more connected.

Campus Infrastructure

Site drainage, parking, lighting, and other essential systems were improved to strengthen the long-term functionality of the campus.

Historic Character Preserved

Important elements of Lipscomb’s historic identity—including terrazzo stairs and the building façade—were restored and renewed.

Every part of the renovation was guided by one question: What will help students learn, belong, and thrive here?

The updated campus gives students access to brighter classrooms, improved learning spaces, safer entry points, and environments that better support collaboration, creativity, and student independence.

The work also reflects the school’s identity as a historic East Dallas campus that is preparing students for the future. Lipscomb remains rooted in its community and traditions, while continuing to evolve into a place where students can experience strong academics, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to imagine what is possible.

The Story of the Project

Lipscomb’s renovation was part of a larger effort to ensure that the school’s physical environment reflects the quality of learning and community that happens inside it every day.

The project brought together Dallas ISD, architects, construction partners, campus staff, families, and community stakeholders around a shared vision: preserve the beauty and legacy of Lipscomb while creating a safer and stronger campus for the future.

The transformation included extensive planning, community engagement, campus meetings, construction updates, and ongoing collaboration throughout the project.
